There are situations when you do NOT want your page or a post to get indexed by the search engines:
To avoid the duplicate content penalty;
Example: when you launch your products through JVZoo, you often end up with multiple copies of the same page, with the slight variations depending on the funnel that the product belongs to. Only ONE of these pages should be indexed, all the others should not.
For Thank You / Download pages;
You definitely do NOT want your purchase delivery pages to get indexed, especially if the only protection you are using are the obscure page URL’s. Otherwise, people would be able to get your products without paying for them, simply by doing a Google search.
This plugin makes it super-easy to stop the specific pages from being indexed, simply by using a shortcode. There are free plugins that do the same (for example, SEO Plus Meta Robots), but unlike them Noindex is lightweight and not cluttering the admin interface.
To stop the search engine bots from indexing the page, insert the following shortcode into the page/post content:
If you change your mind later, and want the page indexed, modify the shortcode from ‘noindex’ to ‘doindex’ (simply deleting the shortcode is not enough if the post meta record has been modified):
